Privacy Policy — Panchangam (iOS)
Effective date: May 12, 2026 ·
App: Panchangam — Hindu Almanac for iOS (bundle dev.tnc.panchangam) by TnC Apps.
We respect your privacy. This policy explains, in plain language, what data
the Panchangam iOS app handles and what it does not do.
A separate policy applies to the Panchangam Android app and to the
Panchangam web app.
Summary
- We do not collect personal data.
- No accounts, no logins, no sign-up.
- No advertising SDKs, no third-party analytics SDKs, no tracking, no IDFA.
- All panchangam, kundali, porutham, baby-name and vrat-guide calculations run on your device.
What information the app processes
Panchangam computes traditional Hindu calendar values (tithi, nakshatra,
sunrise, muhurtam, kundali, porutham, vrat guides, etc.) for a date and
place that you choose. To do this, the app processes:
-
The city you select (or the latitude / longitude /
timezone of a custom city you enter). Used only to perform the
astronomical calculation and to display the result back to you.
-
The date you select.
-
Optional birth details for Kundali / Porutham / Baby Name
(date, time, place). Used only to generate the chart shown on screen.
Never uploaded.
-
Optional family-member profiles you choose to save for
quick access. Stored only on your device.
-
Your preferred language (English, Telugu, Kannada,
Tamil, or Hindi).
-
Notification preferences (daily panchangam reminder
time, festival reminder toggle). Stored only on your device.
Where this information is stored
-
Your selected city, language, saved profiles, and notification
preferences are stored only on your device using
UserDefaults and the app’s sandboxed storage.
Nothing is uploaded to our servers.
-
The home-screen widget reads the same on-device preferences through
an App Group container; the widget does not perform any network
requests.
-
We do not maintain user profiles, accounts, or histories on any server.
Network requests
The iOS app does not require an internet connection
for core panchangam, kundali, porutham, baby-name, festival and vrat
features — everything is computed on-device.
-
If you use the optional “custom city” search, the app
queries Apple’s MapKit local-search service to resolve a place
name to coordinates. Those queries go directly to Apple and are
governed by
Apple’s Privacy Policy.
-
External links you tap (such as “Contact support”) open in
your browser or Mail app and are subject to that destination’s
own policy.
Permissions used by the iOS app
-
Location (When In Use) — optional. Used only
when you tap “Use my location” in the city picker to
determine your current city for the panchangam calculation. The
coordinates are used on-device and are never transmitted to our
servers. You can decline this permission and pick a city manually
instead; all features still work.
-
Notifications — optional. Used only to deliver
the daily panchangam summary and festival reminders that you opt in
to from the Settings screen.
-
The app does not request access to your contacts,
microphone, camera, photos, calendar, health data, motion data,
Bluetooth, or any other sensitive device data.
Children’s privacy
Panchangam is a general-audience reference app rated 4+ and is not
directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data
from children.
Data retention & deletion
Because we do not store personal data on our servers, there is nothing
for us to delete. To remove the local preferences and profiles saved by
the app, either reset them from within the app’s Settings screen
or uninstall the app — iOS will discard the app’s sandboxed
storage automatically.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the
“Effective date” above. Material changes will also be noted
in the app’s release notes on the App Store.
